The challenge
Despite strong content, the previous portal was technically and visually outdated, with usability, accessibility, and information organization limitations that made navigation and data discovery slower and less efficient.
Our approach
The objective was to modernize the platform, simplify access to information, and deliver a clearer, faster, and more accessible user experience.
What we delivered
Improved navigation clarity and user experience
The redesign of Serviço Regional de Estatística dos Açores introduced a more intuitive navigation model, simplifying access to complex statistical content. Clear entry points such as “Explore by area” and “Explore by island” help users quickly understand where to start, reducing cognitive load and improving overall usability.
Faster and more efficient information discovery
By restructuring search and access pathways, users can now locate data more quickly and with fewer steps. The platform supports direct exploration of datasets through multiple lenses (theme, geography, indicators), enabling faster access to relevant statistical information and supporting better decision-making.
Reduced redundancy and improved content structure
The new information architecture eliminated duplicated and fragmented content, organizing information into clearer thematic categories. This resulted in a more coherent and scalable structure, where users can navigate large volumes of data without confusion or overlap.
Modern, accessible interface aligned with UX/UI best practices
The updated interface reflects modern UX/UI standards, with improved visual hierarchy, consistent components, and accessible design patterns. The platform aligns with the mission of making statistical information widely available and easy to use, ensuring that users—from citizens to researchers—can access reliable data efficiently.
